EI Salvador

EI Salvador is the smallest country among the Central American nations. The population is dense. The government is unable to provide quality education for all children. As a result, the percentage of Out-of-School Children (OOSC) is increased. About 82% of the children attend school. 6% of the children have no schooling.

A report by Norwegian Refugee Council states that there is no access to education in the crime-affected areas in EI Salvador. Children face violence, threats, and sexual harassment from criminal gangs. According to a UNICEF report, criminal gangs had killed 241 children, aged between 13 and 17, from January to June 2009. The pandemic has further worsened the educational system of EI Salvador.

The Ministry of Education has initiated some positive steps for the acquisition of quality education. In this regard, the government telecasts daily Education Strip. The country’s Digital Agenda (2020-30) aims to digitalize education for all students. Additionally, the Innovation department has shown a significant improvement and different NGOs such as IBREA Foundation, ICDP, and Fundación Salvador del Mundo (FUSALMO) are helping the government improve the quality of education for the children.
