Sudan

Sudan has one of the largest numbers of out of school children in the Middle East and North Africa region. It’s estimated that over three million children here, aged 5 – 13 years, are not in the classroom. Conflict, a lack of awareness about the importance of education, and chronic under-development all contribute to poor schooling of boys and girls in Sudan. The statistics above are alarming for society. The country will not be able to survive and cope with the current challenges. In such conditions, an appropriate system must be designed through which educational opportunities must be provided to people all over the country, with the help of a limited number of financial resources available to the government.

Africa Educational Trust (AET) has been one of the oldest organizations working in Sudan. AET has set four Resources and open Learning centers (ROLE) around the country. These centers work closely with unprivileged communities to support learning and teaching programs.
